Global Impact on the Mission to Improve Student Mental Health
The CoVitality surveys have proven to be an effective tool in understanding and assessing student mental health and well-being across many applications in over 15 countries.
Baldwin Park Unified School District
Susan Coats is changing the way parts of Los Angeles’ leadership tackles rising concerns surrounding mental health in their expansive student population.
Coats, an advocate for holistic mental health services, pioneered Baldwin Park Unified’s innovative suicide prevention training – using CoVitality to lead the way.
Using CoVitality as an early identification and intervention tool, she accomplishes her district-wide student success goals by centralizing the educational process around social emotional learning and positive school climate.
Data from the tool is at the center of efforts to engage and empower outside donors and workgroups of industry professionals convened by the state to understand current mental health needs of California students

Prior to having clear evidence pointing to where their children were struggling and how to help, conversations about student mental health in Sioux City School District (SCSD) rarely occurred at all.
Meeting the rising mental health needs of their diverse midwestern heartland student body compelled district leadership to start a conversation with their community about school- based support for their students psychological health
Using CoVitality to raise support and awareness for the status and importance of their students’ social and emotional well-being, school staff conducted universal district wide screening with the tool and presented results back to their leadership and key community stakeholders to snowball these efforts.
The CoVitality tool helped build a comprehensive support system was critical. Results of the survey administration served as a rallying cry and cajole that engaged voices in the region.
For principals like Richard Todd of East Union high school, data was “important for resources, programing, and rankings.” Additionally, the data was used to empower and train staff to tackle student mental health, efforts central to understanding and improving district-wide coordinated efforts

Bay District Schools
In the aftermath of Hurricane Michael which struck the greater area of Panama City Florida in the fall of 2018, officials in Bay District Schools were quick to recognize the importance of a strong educational system and leverage this foundation to support the well-being and recovery efforts this devastating storm forced on their community in waves in the aftermath of the widely-felt tragedy.
Displacing more than 3, 000 students and wreaking havoc on 80% of the schools in their region, leadership knew the damage to their student population went far beneath surface level and CoVitalitiy gave leadership a fast and easy way to leverage their minimal resources and deliver this critical psychological support.
Using the tool and its easily scalable and affordable self report assessment and series of customized follow-up strategies, student support staff and community based mental health organizations were able to use the web-based platform to identify students who might be struggling and intervene rapidly in the wake of the storm.
Results from the survey administration will aid leadership as they continue to fight for funds years after the storm has passed for resources to address the widespread mental health issues that have continued to escalate in recent months.
College Track
Prior to CoVitality, improving students skills and being able to direct them to additional resources for growth and progress monitoring was not accomplished through College Track’s traditional social and emotional learning program.
Acknowledging the importance of emphasizing social-emotional skill development in their comprehensive college prep curriculum, this equity committed organization needed a tool to support their student psychological wellness goals.
With results that showed a demonstrable improvement in college readiness, they began to use CoVitality to assess every student upon entry to the program across the many states their curriculum is implemented in.
CoVitality is able to help College track change the narrative for talented students from all socioeconomic backgrounds by giving leadership information that allows them to continue to innovate based on their diverse needs – with one on one coaching, tailored follow-ups and progress monitoring.

We LOVE this assessment. It’s incredible!
CoVitality gives us real time reports on our students and categorizes them for us into categories: green (doing well), blue (could be doing better) and red (needs help/worrisome). This allows us to tailor wellness services dosage to need level and for us to know right away who we need to follow up with. In addition, the App provides evidence based intervention recommendations for each of the 12 strengths that they assess for which makes it super easy for wellness staff to know what to focus on with particular students to build capacity.
I highly recommend this assessment!
